FAQs

Q. Where are the photographs taken?
Typically, sessions are photographed outdoors at a location of your choice.  Being outdoors provides natural light (the best kind for photographs) and stunning natural scenery that is simply not available in a studio.   While I almost always take pictures outdoors, exceptions are newborn sessions (done in the comfort of your home), events and lifestyle portraits.  If you don't have a location in mind for your session, I am always happy to provide suggestions.

Q. What do we wear?!
If you are like me and fashion-challenged, this is a topic that can create a near panic attack.  First and foremost, wear what you want!  These are your pictures and YOU are the focus of them.  Your clothes are an afterthought.  With that said, when taking group shots, it does help to have a cohesive, put-together look.  I suggest wearing coordinating colors, but avoid matchy-matchy.  Steering away from tiny prints and stripes is also recommended. For newborn sessions, Mom and Dad, you will want to be sure to have nails trimmed, rings cleaned, etc. for those close up shots with baby.  For some ideas and inspiration, be sure to check out my page on Pinterest.

Q. What should we bring to the shoot?
If I am coming to your home for a newborn session, I will bring everything we need.  For sessions with children, I always recommend having snacks and water handy.  Children photograph their best when they are well-rested and their bellies are full. :)  Feel free to bring a favorite toy, special blanket, fun shoes, etc.  These items can make for fun, authentic pictures.  If you prefere not to use any props at all, that is fine too!  Lastly, if you prefer to have your child photographed in more than one outfit, feel free to bring those along as well.

Q. What if I need to reschedule my session?
Nobody likes to have his or her picture taken when not feeling well.  Or, if the weather isn't cooperating we may need to reschedule your session. Should the need arise, I will try my best to reschedule to a date that is most convenient for you.

Q. How long does the photo session last?
Sessions typically last about one-and-a-half to two hours.  When planning your family's schedule for the day of your shoot, please be prepared to spend at least this much time together .  Newborn sessions can last up to four hours.  They take longer due to breaks to feed and change the baby.

Q. What time of day do you schedule sessions?
really prefer to schedule outdoor sessions about two hours before sunset.  This is the time of day photographers refer to as "The Golden Hour" when the light is most flattering and there is the opportunity to capture stunning photographs.  If that time does not work with your schedule, I also offer morning shoots (beginning about thirty minutes after sunrise).

Q. When will my photos be ready?
Within two weeks of your session, all of your images will be available for viewing in a private, online gallery that will remain active for two weeks.  Prints are ready within a week of the date an order is placed.

Q. Do you offer repeat customer or referral incentives?
Yes!  The biggest compliment I can receive is your repeat business and personal referrals.  Please ask me for details!

Q. Do you include a disc of images with your sessions?
I do not.  I include a $75 print credit in the session fee for you to spend on prints that are ordered through me.  This ensures you receive your pictures from a professional lab that I have access to as a photographer.  Using a professional lab guarantees your images are printed on high quality paper and are printed in "true color".  Plus, when you receive your pictures, they are ready to frame and start enjoying right away!  If you would like to purchase digital images, they can be purchased in addition to prints (please inquire for pricing).  To see an example of a comparison between prints printed at local labs vs. a professional lab, check out this board on my Pinterest page.

Q. We would like to book a session with you.  Now what do we do?
Thank you much for considering me to take pictures of your family, child/children, high school senior or newborn.  I would love to speak with you about scheduling a session!  Please contact me  and I will be in touch shortly to talk about your goals for your pictures, where you would like to take your pictures and answer any questions you may have.  Once we have all of the details in place, I do ask that you pay the session fee within five days to reserve your date.
